Enjoy a private tour of the magnificent Edgewater Mansion. Take in the opulence of the mansion's dining room, admire the beautiful elegance of the 19th Century decoration in the sitting rooms and take a peek into some of the rooms off the official public tour. Wander the grounds and you come across the estate's pool, fit for F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Jay Gatsby". Edgewater’s impressive facade is best appreciated by those who approach from the Hudson River. Built in 1824, its temple-fronted colonnade ornaments a large house that was made even more impressive by the addition of an enormous octagonal library in 1854. The combination of an octagonal library and classical portico captivated visitors well into the twentieth century - including its last two private owners, Gore Vidal and Richard Hampton Jenrette. Bring your picnic basket and enjoy the grounds with views to the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains beyond. https://classicalamericanhomes.org/sites/edgewater/

The OLANA Private Landscape and Historic House Combo Tour

The complete Olana touring experience in one package! Led by an OLANA staff member for up to 5 people, this two-hour combination tour begins with a 60-minute guided tour in the electric vehicle of Frederic Church’s artist-designed landscape, followed by a complete tour of both floors of the Main House. 4-week advance reservation is required. This tour involves several flights of stairs.

ABOUT OLANA - Olana is the masterwork of Frederic Edwin Church (1826-1900), the preeminent American artist of the mid-19th Century. Olana’s 250-acre artist-designed landscape and Historic House embraces unrivaled panoramic views of the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains, and welcomes more than 170,000 visitors annually. Olana is a public park and is open daily from 8 AM to sunset. Admission to the park is free of charge. Frederic Church used landscape painting to convey the expansionist, optimistic worldview of mid-19th century America. His panoramic canvases emphasize meticulous atmospheric and botanical detail. Viewers delighted in identifying specific species of plants and birds, the strata in rocks, and various cloud formations. Church wanted to use art to reconcile the latest revelations of the natural sciences and the age-old evidence of the divine in nature. Today, Church is acknowledged as a leader within the Hudson River School, often called the first truly American style of painting. Frederic Church is well-known as a painter, but he was also a world traveler, a family man, and a self-taught architect, farmer and landscape designer. He and his wife Isabel were pious, well-read, and fun-loving. They raised four children at their estate overlooking the Hudson. Though Frederic and Isabel Church moved among New York City’s cultural tastemakers, Olana was their primary home. https://www.olana.org/

$100 Gift Certificate to Samuels Sweet Shop, Rhinebeck, NY

It began in 1994 with a dream. Ira named his shop after his late Uncle Sam who introduced him as a boy to penny candy.

Today we are known as Samuel’s Sweet Shop, and while our name has changed a little, our commitment to providing our customers the very best in candy, chocolate, coffee & tea, baked goods and other delicious treats hasn’t changed one bit. $400 Gift Certificate to the Beekman Arms & Delamater Inn, Rhinebeck, NY

Entering the Beekman Arms is a trip back in time. Starting as the Traphagen Tavern in 1704, it stood on what was then the Kings Highway (today's Route 9), which was the main route between New York City and Albany. Named after the Beekman family, the Beekman Arms was added to the original tavern in 1766 and has been operating as an inn ever since. Over the years the Beekman Arms has hosted many famous dignitaries including George Washington, General Lafayette, Aaron Burr, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Bill & Hillary Clinton and Neil Armstrong. Few changes have been made to the Beekman Arms' original structure of strong oaken beams and broad plank floors. A fire in our hearth still warms guests from cold winter nights, and in the tavern residents and visitors continue to gather, eat, drink, and talk, as they have since 1704.

Get away and relax at this beautiful Hudson Valley landmark. Just steps from some of the best shopping and fine dining in Dutchess County, the Beekman Arms is truly one of the jewels of the Hudson Valley. https://www.beekmandelamaterinn.com/

Ronnybrook Farm Private Tour for up to 12 and $150 Gift Card, Ancramdale, NY

A fun day and Private Tour at Ronnybrook Farm in Ancramdale is ready for your bid! This special auction item also includes a $150 Gift Certificate for your group up to 12! Your experience includes a full tour of the farm plant with explanations of the Ronnybrook process, calf area and the milking barn with the grand ladies who provide us with the milk to make our products. You can pet and take pictures with the animals. There will be a question & answer session with the owners as well. Your group can also go to Globe Hill which is a hay field and is part of the farm with a fantastic view.

Thirty years ago, brothers Ron and Rick Osofsky went back to the future. They began bottling unhomogenized milk in glass on their dairy farm. Their glass milk bottles have become a relic from another age (like the rotary phone, the typewriter or unhomogenized milk)! When the Osofsky’s began farming 80 years ago they were considered progressive and innovative, because of their commitment to improving the Holstein breed through advanced genetics; breeding some of the most prized Holstein cows in the country. At the time they accepted the fact that they were stewards of the land, responsible for caring and preserving it. 80 years later they are committed to the same ideals. http://www.ronnybrook.com/

Canoe / Kayak History Tour in North Tivoli Bay, NY

Join Town of Red Hook/ Village of Tivoli Historian Emily Majer on a paddle through the beautiful North Tivoli Bay, out into the Hudson to explore the "ruins" on South Cruger’s Island. Jealous of the picturesque ruins of Europe, John Church Cruger built a folly of arches on the island in 1842, where he displayed Mayan relics from the Yucatan city of Uxmal. The scene delighted steamboat passengers and guests to the Cruger family’s eponymous island home nearby. The relics were sold to the American Museum of Natural History in 1919.

The tour can accommodate two people in a canoe and two in kayaks, provided by the tour guide. If people prefer to use their own boats, that’s fine. Paddles, life jackets, and light snacks will be provided as well. Total time on the river and island will be about three hours. There is quite a bit of paddling involved so some experience is strongly suggested. The trip can be redeemed in the spring or summer of 2025. Expires November 1, 2025. https://hudsonvalleyone.com/2017/10/26/red-hooks-cruger-island-was-once-home-to-plundered-mayan-stone-sculptures/
