$250 Gift Card to Adams Fairacre Farms, Poughkeepsie, NY

Inside every Adams Fairacre Farms store there is a heritage of freshness and value that grew out of a farm founded by Ralph A. and Mary Rogers Adams in 1919. We’ve never forgotten our roots. Mary and Ralph planted more than just a farm. They planted an idea; a deep commitment to serving their customers with the best fresh produce around. Out of that commitment grew a store, then three more stores. But all the time, at the root of it was Mary, Ralph, their children and grandchildren. Generations of customers and generations of Adams family members have recognized that under the Adams Fairacre Farms sign you’ll find nothing but the best.

Today, there are five Adams stores around the Hudson Valley – in Poughkeepsie, Kingston, Wappingers, Newburgh, and Middletown – and we are always up to new tricks. Every week in every store there are new products, new tastes and new sale items. We keep it fresh, we keep it cheerful, and if you can’t find something, please ask. Every Adams employee is eager to make your shopping experience easy. https://adamsfarms.com/

C-1850 Adam Caire Poughkeepsie, NY #4 Blue Decorated Crock, Double-Handled, From the Private Collection of Judge James Brands, Pickup Only, Rhinebeck, NY

Judge Brands hand-picked this 19th century beauty from his chambers in the Supreme Court building in Poughkeepsie, NY. Circa 1850’s, this double handled crock measures 11"tall x 11.5"dia and is salt-glazed stoneware decorated in cobalt blue having a beautiful motif. (Judge Brands donated crocks to the DCHS In 2021, 2022 & 2023 which sold for $430, $345 and $517!)

This year’s example made by Adam Caire is the earliest donated so far, made between 1852 and 1856.

Riedinger & Caire Pottery was first developed by John Caire when he bought Poughkeepsie Pottery in 1839. Adam Caire entered his father's business in 1852. After selling the business and then buying it back in 1856, Caire became a partner to Philip Riedinger. The company manufactured stoneware, earthenware, firebricks, flower pots, jugs and bottles. One popular customer included Matthew Vassar's brewery! The partners later developed sewer pipes which were used at the Capitol in Albany and at the Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

In the past, Judge Brands hand picked all of his 19th century beauties from his chambers in the Supreme Court building in Poughkeepsie and hand carried it to the delivery service for the auction as seen in these images from past DCHS auctions.

$100 Gift Card to Davies Hardware in Poughkeepsie, one of the Hudson Valley’s oldest family run stores!

Henry and Ann Davies were merchants in Monmouthshire, South Wales, England, who immigrated to America with their eight children in 1886, settling in the Arlington area of the town of Poughkeepsie.

In 1888, their son, William H. Davies saved enough money from working the local brickyard to purchase the Main Street property where Davies Hardware Inc stands, to this day. It was first a butcher shop, which also sold general merchandise. Behind the store was a livery stable, where people would rent a horse and carriage.

Eventually, the store evolved into a general supply and feed store. The business was built on friendships and handshakes, as Davies would sell work tools, clothes, shoes and boots, paint, grain, and feed. Carloads of feed would arrive at Cottage Street Railroad Station where the stores work truck would pick it up and deliver to local farmers. Friendly service and quality goods helped build the store into a local mainstay.

Matthew and Anthony Davies grew up in the hardware store and developed the commercial side of the business. Surviving his father James, Matthew continued the Davies family tradition by maintaining the "customer first" approach and teaching the trade to the next (5th) generation, with his oldest daughter, Jennifer Davies-Sadowski. Jennifer will continue to provide service to the Hudson Valley, advancing the family 19th-century store, while maintaining the traditions of their heritage. https://davieshardware.com/

Mills Mansion Family Membership with Tour Tickets, Gilded Splendor Book & Staatsburgh Blend Tea, Staatsburg, NY

The Mills Mansion Family Membership includes 6 tickets to a regular tour of the mansion, 20% discount in the gift shop, and advance notice of events and programs. In addition to the Family Membership, you will also receive a copy of Staatsburgh: Gilded Splendor on the Hudson, and Harney & Sons Staatsburgh Blend Tea!

Originally built in 1832 and greatly expanded in the 1890’s, the mansion at Staatsburgh State Historic Site is emblematic of the great country estates built in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to house America’s wealthiest families.

Referred to locally as Mills Mansion, it is an elegant example of the beautiful homes built by America’s financial and industrial leaders during the Gilded Age. A 25-room Greek Revival structure was built on the site in 1832 by Morgan Lewis and his wife, Gertrude Livingston, replacing an earlier house that had burned down. This second house was inherited by Ruth Livingston Mills, wife of noted financier and philanthropist Ogden Mills.

In 1895, Mr. and Mrs. Mills commissioned the prestigious New York City architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White to remodel and enlarge their Staatsburg home. After completion in 1896, the house had been transformed into a Beaux-Arts mansion of 65 rooms and 14 bathrooms. Its exterior was embellished with balustrades, pilasters, floral swags, and a massive portico. The rooms were furnished with elaborately carved and gilded furniture, fine oriental rugs, silk fabrics, and a collection of art objects from Europe, ancient Greece, and the Far East. Pride in the family’s Livingston heritage was also demonstrated in the prominent display of portraits of Mrs. Mills’ ancestors through the mansion. https://millsfriends.org/

Come on a Historic Ice Sailing Adventure!

Experience the beauty of an activity first brought to the Hudson Valley by the Dutch in the 1600's, sailing on ice! The Hudson River Ice Yacht Preservation Trust and members of the Hudson River Ice Yacht Club will host you and a friend for rides on our historic ice yachts of the 1800's, on the ice of the Hudson Valley in the winter of 2025.

These craft, adapted from the boats the Dutch used for winter transport into what were the fastest vehicles on earth, have been lovingly restored by members of the HRIYC. Raced by the members of the many ice yacht clubs located from Newburgh to Athens and up to Orange Lake near Stewart Airport, competitions were regularly covered by the New York Times and local papers, with hundreds of spectators in attendance at Poughkeepsie.

Ice sailing is a fickle sport, and we are ready to travel to suitable ice when conditions are good. Keep this in mind, as you will need to keep some flexibility in your schedule! There will hopefully be a window of opportunity to sail that we will inform you of, and we hope for a cold winter. Historically, February has been the most likely month for us to sail.

Past HRIYC Commodore and current President of HRIYPT Robert Wills and friends will take you on thrilling rides on the boats of the Roosevelt's, Rogers, and Grinnell families. Included in this experience will be a bottle of bubbly and two HRIYPT commemorative patches. Remember to dress for the occasion!

$200 Gift Card to Farmers & Chefs Restaurant, Poughkeepsie, NY

Farmers & Chefs is a casual Hudson Valley restaurant envisioned by Chef and restaurateur, John Lekic. Drawing inspiration from our region's beautiful Hudson Valley farms while combining the freshest in season local ingredients combined with global influences. "We believe in preservation of boutique agriculture and we support our small farms while emphasizing that two same ingredients are not always equal to each other. $250 Gift Card to the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Hyde Park, NY

The Culinary Institute of America’s main campus runs four public restaurants for students to increase their culinary experience: American Bounty, Bocuse Restaurant, Ristorante Caterina de' Medici, and The Apple Pie Bakery Café.

American Bounty: With a focus on the seasons and products of the Hudson Valley, contemporary and traditional regional dishes are brought to life in an honest and flavorful way. Rounded out with a first-class American wine list and comfortable warm service, this casually elegant restaurant sets the stage for an unparalleled dining experience in New York’s Hudson Valley.

The Bocuse Restaurant: Sleek and strikingly contemporary, this French restaurant is named for the most famous chef in France, Paul Bocuse. The Bocuse Restaurant re-imagines the execution of classic French cuisine through the lens of ultra-modern cooking techniques, brings a new style of casual yet sophisticated service, and offers a breathtaking architectural interior design. It was the first of the school's restaurants, and opened as the Epicurean Room and Rabalais Grill in 1973, before being renamed the Escoffier Restaurant (after Auguste Escoffier) in 1974. In 2012 it was again renamed to honor Paul Bocuse, and given a $3 million renovation by Adam Tihany.

Truly authentic regional Italian cuisine takes center stage at Ristorante Caterina de Medici, a sophisticated dining room overlooking a stunning herb and rose garden, and the Hudson River. Dining at this grand Tuscan-style villa is a culinary escape to another world without ever having to leave the beautiful Hudson Valley.

Apple Pie Bakery Cafe: Enjoy classic cafe favorites and new crave-worthy sweet and savory selections prepared by CIA students under the instruction of world-class faculty.
