Framed Drawing with plaque reading "Corrado Giaquinto 1690-1765", Pickup Only, Rhinebeck, NY

Drawing attributed to Corrado Giaquinto (1703-1766), the Italian Rococo painter. From the Prado Museum in Spain: "Considered the maximum representative of rococo painting in Rome during the first half of the 18th century and a referent for various generations of Spanish painters, this artist produced abundant oil paintings and most of all, frescoes. He studied with Saverio Porta until 1719, moving to Naples in 1721 to work under the tutelage of Nicola Maria Rossi, a follower of Francesco Solimena. His deep study of the latter's work left an indelible mark on his conception of painting. In 1727, he moved to Rome, where his opulent Neapolitan style shifted towards a more classicist rococo influenced by Sebastiano Conca, with whom he collaborated on the dome of Santa Cecilia in the Trastevere." Dimensions to outside edge of frame: 15" wide x 17" tall. Drawing: 7 1/2" x 9 1/2"

History and Tour for 8 of the Millbrook Fire Department

The Millbrook Engine Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1 was established on August 6, 1908 by a group of businessmen and homeowners that were concerned about the increasing size of the structures in the village and its lack of organized fire protection. The first firefighting equipment was a hand-drawn 100-gallon chemical tank and a meager supply of buckets and asbestos blankets. The fledgling fire company was housed in an old blacksmith shop near the location of the present firehouse.

How did the Millbrook Engine Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1 of 1908 become the Millbrook Fire Department of today? That is exactly what you will find out during this historical and informative tour for up to 8 people led by Millbrook Fire Department Historian and former Assistant Chief, John V. Manzi, Jr. The tour will cover the history of the fire company, firehouse, fire apparatus, pictures, certificates, the trophy case upstairs, and the 1930 Seagrave owned by the fire department. Mr. Manzi will also discuss the original company location and the current location, as well as how the Millbrook Ambulance Corps, est. 1947, became the Millbrook Fire Dept Rescue Squad in 1974. Light refreshments will be served. https://millbrookfirerescue.org/
