Exclusive Tour for up to 6 people of the J.H. Ketcham Hose Company Firehouse in Dover Plains.

The J.H. Ketcham Hose Co., Inc. in Dover Plains, N.Y. is a volunteer fire company that has proudly served the community since 1903. Alongside the state of the art firetrucks and equipment, Dover Historian and former fire chief Brian Kelly has assembled a spectacular firefighting exhibit, chronicling the fire fighting history of Dover.

Tour the historic collection, including a restored 1927 Seagrave Suburbanite fire truck and displays curated by Mr. Kelly. Displayed upstairs are paintings by J.E. Arthur Powell, G. Glenn Newell and other artists who lived and painted in Dover Plains in the early 20th Century. Also showcased upstairs are artifacts that belonged to J.H. Ketcham and the town. (Steep stairway to second floor, no elevator.)

The two-story brick building on Route 22 in Dover Plains, notable for the cannons and original fire gong in front, is named for John Henry Ketcham, who served as General in the Union Army during the American Civil War and was a United States Representative from N.Y. for over 33 years and United States Senator in 1860 and 1861.

Rhinebeck Reformed Church Private Tour for 8 With Reception Afterward, Rhinebeck, NY

Spend some heavenly hours with Reformed Church Elder and Dutchess County Historical Society Trustee and Curator Melodye Moore for a tour of the historic Reformed Church on Route 9 in Rhinebeck. Bring your group of up to 8 people and learn about the present 1809 structure that replaced the first church to be built on the property in 1731.

That first church building was constructed on land given by Colonel Henry Beekman and it became the place of worship for the founders of Rhinebeck, its farmers and merchants, and in some cases their slaves. Guests will learn about the 1850s renovations to the church interior that resulted in the simple yet elegant place of worship that exists today. After touring the sanctuary guests will visit the adjacent graveyard that is the final resting place for over 40 American Revolution patriots, recently recognized with a Pomeroy Foundation Patriot Marker.

Following the tour guests will be treated to a meet-and-greet with the church organist who will talk about the church's historic Roosevelt organ which was installed in 1893 and offer a few musical selections. The tour will be followed by refreshments. https://www.rhinebeckreformed.org/
