Dutchess County Historical Society (DCHS) Fundraising Auction of Unique Experiences and Gift Certificates Ending 11/17

100% of the auction proceeds benefit the DCHS. Every lot sells to the highest bidder. Payment will be made directly to DCHS, a 501-C3 Not for Profit Corporation so no sales tax will be charged. There is a 15% Buyers Premium which will also be going to the DCHS.

The DCHS does not receive any Federal, State or County funding. It relies solely on donations, membership dues and private sponsorships from people like you. Please support the 100+ year old “Mission” of the DCHS that has “collected, preserved and interpreted the history of Dutchess County, NY, from the period of the arrival of the first Native Americans until the present day.”

Payment must be completed by Friday, November 22 at 3PM.

All lots sold as is, where is. There is a 15% Buyers Premium for all lots purchased. Payment methods are cash, check, Visa, MasterCard & Amex.

DCHS is located at 6282 Route 9, Rhinebeck, NY. Normal open hours are Wednesday to Saturday 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM during which time you can take a close up look at many of the physical items in the auction. Private Art Viewing for 6: Portrait Sculptures by American Sculptor Jo Davidson, Amenia, NY.

This exclusive tour for 6 guests will primarily show busts of famous people from the 1920s to 1950s. The collection includes a bust of FDR that was used to create the monument at the focal point of Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island. Davidson’s art is on display at the National Portrait Gallery & in the Capitol Building.

The curator of this exhibit is Dr. Julian Strauss, who will share the story of the artist’s life & career as a portrait sculptor. The history surrounding the importance of each notable subject will be included. Winning bidder will coordinate their visit with the owner between April and October of 2025. Rob Doyle, President of DCHS says, "I purchased this unique experience last year and it was awesome. My family and I truly enjoyed learning about this talented artist and his life story of sculpting the portraits of so many famous people as told by our host, Julian Strauss. We marveled at the detailed work up close and personal. I won't go into details about the hidden room with a secret door!
