Straight razor. John Primble India Steel Works. Imitation ivory handle with “The Primble Shield” in ribbon above raised figure of soldier with shield. “Primble India Steel Works” on shield; “Stands For All That Is Good In Cutlery” below shield in ribbon; “Goods Of Honor” around head pin. Plain round back. Obviously, this is a handle pattern that was limited to one manufacturer and therefore should not be found on a blade by a different maker. Very rare. This fancy celluloid handle pattern is a better example of #2 illustrated in the book “Celluloid Handle Guide for Straight Razor Collectors Reflecting on Fifty Years of Handle Designs (1870-1920)” By Robert A. Doyle. Great color.

Very rare and colorful celluloid handle pattern. It is not in the book “Celluloid Handle Guide for Straight Razor Collectors Reflecting on Fifty Years of Handle Designs (1870-1920)” By Robert A. Straight Razor. WM. JOHNSON WARRANTED. This Handle material is the rarest that you will find in an early Razor. I have witnessed only six, including the folding straight razor carried by the Duke of Marlborough. All four that I have encountered over the past 50+years, I kept. You will search for many years and most likely will never find one. I do not know why this "select horn" is so rare. It must have been extremely hard to find this kind of grain on a single horn. The white on the pile side at head pin is remnants of a sticker label. It will clean off.
