After 50+ years of collecting straight razors, Robert A. Doyle will be offering at auction his lifetime collection of fancy and unusual straight razors. Doyle, an Auctioneer/Appraiser/Real Estate Broker, started collecting at 16 years of age and has just turned sixty-seven. When asked why straight razors? Doyle responded, "They are small, beautiful, historic, one-of-a-kind artistic pieces that are nearly impossible to reproduce. There are no 'fakes' to be concerned with." He continued, "It is time to allow others the opportunity to own and enjoy these beautiful shaving tools. The straight razor was the most prized personal tool of men through the ages." WM & JG PARKER UNIVERSALLY APPROVED RAZOR. Circa 1820-30’s period decorated natural material handle with the symbol of the Half Horse/Half Alligator and “Old Kentuck” in scrimshawed banners. It is most associated with the Battle of New Orleans and General Andrew Jackson. Here is a quote from Davy Crockett: I'm half-horse, half-alligator and a little attached with snapping turtle. I've got the fastest horse, the prettiest sister, the surest rifle and the ugliest dog in Texas. My father can lick any man in Kentucky... and I can lick my father. I can hug a bear too close for comfort and eat any man alive opposed to Andy Jackson! Link to more information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunters_of_Kentucky

Straight Razor. SKIDMORE WARRANTED. C-1815-25. Very rare select horn handle material. This Handle material is the rarest that you will find in an early Razor. I have witnessed five, including the folding straight razor carried by the Duke of Marlborough. All five that I have encountered over the past 50 years, I kept. You will search for many years and most likely will never find one. I do not know why this "select horn" is so rare. It must have been extremely hard to find this kind of grain on a single horn. See images for damage. Very rare.
