The Novelty Cutlery Company of Canton, Ohio specialized in creating straight razor handles with personalized information and chosen images to be sealed under/within clear celluloid which was patented in 1879.. Shavers would provide their information and pick out images from ''stock cuts'' or provide their own images to be presented in the handle design. Novelty Cutlery was not the only company producing these handles and there is evidence that they might have produced for other makers. Rare.

Straight Razor. JOSEPH ELLIOTS CELEBRATED RAZOR. C-1830-40's. Rare genuine stag handle having inlaid escutcheon plate. Stag is very rarely found on straight razor handles. If you have been buying straight razors in the first couple of sessions from my collection, you have had an opportunity to purchase a few already. In the fifty plus years of collecting, I kept all the stag I could find. Kurt Moe bought my stags at auction. They are now coming back on the market for the second time in this Century. Genuine one piece Stag scales are very rare on straight razors as a handle material.
