Two C-1840-50 Sheffield made clear horn handled straight razors from the famed Henry Lummus Collection. This clear horn handles have the inventory dot code in red indicating that it is from the “Lummus” Collection.  The red dot pattern on the handles identifies these  pieces as part of the Henry T. He was distinguished in personal appearance and bearing. He was interested in antiques, particularly in old razors and furniture, of which he had an extensive private collection.” “Henry Tilton Lummus was born in Lynn, December 28, 1876, the son of William and Louisa Mitchell (Brown) Lummus. He attended the Lynn schools, was graduated from the Lynn Classical High School in 1894, and from the Boston University Law School in 1897, heading his class and receiving the degree of Bachelor of Laws, summa cum laude.” He died in 1960 at the age of 84.   Please see multiple images for details.

Rare Out-of-Print Book:  “Straight Razor Collecting, An Illustrated Price Guide.” First edition 1980. Fully illustrated. Contains some great history, and many examples of rare and unusual straight razors. I wrote this book forty years ago. Everything illustrated in this book was from my personal collection, which I have been selling over this past year and a half. We published 8,000 copies which sold out in the first year. Each time a collector passes, and I get to catalog their collection, a book or two will arrive with the collection. To find out what the international book dealers get for a copy, do a search in AbeBooks.com. I just did. There are currently 8 copies available worldwide priced from $40-$150 each. I am always shocked as this was a $7.95 book in 1980. I should have held back a case!  Please see multiple images for details.
