Double bladed straight razor stamped “Sheffield.” Examples of this pattern are very rare. This double bladed pattern always has a shaped whalebone handle. (I believe that they were connected with the military, most likely “Navy” as the few examples that have encountered have themes of anchors & rope on the blades, military figures carved and sometimes colored into the bone handles. Claude Rondeau’s Collection has the most I have ever seen in one place. They are all offered in this session. I have had a few over the past 50 years in my own collection. Perhaps, they were made for the French market by the cutlers of Sheffield?) Note damage in photo.

C-1825 pressed Buffalo horn Handled Razor from “Lummus” Collection stamped “Coll.” Very patriotic handle having a portrait of George Washington, Stars, Eagle, “Independence,” scroll, Lady “Liberty,” etc. The number “647” scratched into the handle identifies it as part of the Henry T. Lummus Collection. Note: The number is an inventory number from the Henry T. Lummus Collection assembled before 1920. Lummus wrote articles on straight Razor Collecting for "Antiques" magazine in the 1920's. I bought his 500 piece collection from his Estate over 40 years ago. Claude bought this razor from me over 35 years ago.
