Straight razor. G. Nye. From the Henry T. Lummus Collection. Judge Lummus from Mass. Was a serious collector of fancy and unusual straight razors back in the early 1900's. He wrote a few articles on collecting straight razors for Antiques Magazine back in the 1920's. He marked every piece in his collection with either an inventory number scratched into the pile side of the handle or a red dot code around the head pin, sometimes, like in this case, both. All of the examples from his collection predate 1890. There are about 500 from his collection on display at the Sherlburne Museum in Vermont. I had purchased the remainder from the Auctioneer that handled his Estate. Many of you have purchased examples from me. I don't have many left and they are slowly coming to market and disappearing into others collections. This one has a black buffalo horn handle.
