Experience the beauty of an activity first brought to the Hudson Valley by the Dutch in the 1600's, sailing on ice! The Hudson River Ice Yacht Preservation Trust and members of the Hudson River Ice Yacht Club will host you and one friend for rides on our historic ice yachts of the 1800's, on the ice of the Hudson Valley in the winter of 2025-2026. These craft, adapted from the boats the Dutch used for winter transport into what were the fastest vehicles on earth, have been lovingly restored by members of the HRIYC. Raced by the members of the many ice yacht clubs located from Newburgh to Athens and up to Orange Lake near Stewart Airport, competitions were regularly covered by the New York Times and local papers, with hundreds of spectators in attendance at Poughkeepsie. Ice sailing is a fickle sport, and we are ready to travel to suitable ice when conditions are good. Keep this in mind, as you will need to keep some flexibility in your schedule! There will hopefully be a window of opportunity to sail that we will inform you of, and we hope for a cold winter. Historically, February has been the most likely month for us to sail. Past HRIYC Commodore and current President of HRIYPT Robert Wills and friends will take you on thrilling rides on the boats of the Roosevelt's, Rogers, and Grinnell families. Included in this experience will be a bottle of bubbly and two HRIYPT commemorative patches. Branchwater Farms is offering a tour and tasting for up to six (6) people. The auction winner will also receive a Martini kit consisting of their proprietary gin and vermouth. From Kevin and Robin, owners of Branchwater Farms: "When we first laid eyes on this farm in 2013, we knew how lucky we were to have found it. Kevin fell in love with its untouched nature and clear readiness for the right attention. Robin saw the beauty in having a big slice of earth to care for. She felt an immediate connection, a nurturing sense returned by the cradling valley itself. Its cedar forests, winding creek, and stony slopes reminded her of other spots she had known and loved. Both of us were drawn to the tenderness of the farmhouse and the potential of the old dairy barn. It’s now the place we and our children call home. We wanted to create an outpost of responsible land stewardship rooted in respect for tradition, quality, and craft. We offer fresh eggs and meat from our pasture-raised, organically-fed chickens and ducks. And we are proud to support local farmers with a similar approach to animal welfare and land management in our selection of local dairy, meat, canned goods, and pantry items. In our farm store, you will also find a selection of local crafts that make excellent gifts and souvenirs - candles, soaps and salves, linens, books by local authors, and even bird houses. We are excited to expand these selections in the years to come. There is so much local talent!" VALUE $300

The United Nations Headquarters in New York City carries significant modern global history. The auction winner and their guest will be immersed in post WWII history during their tour, hosted by esteemed US delegates to the UN. Per the UN website: On 10 December 1945, the Congress of the US unanimously resolved to invite the UN to establish its permanent home in that country. Thereafter, the decision to locate the UN near New York City was made by the General Assembly at its first session, held in London on 14 February 1946. During the latter half of 1946, following selection of the US as host country, a special UN site committee studied possible locations in such places as Philadelphia, Boston and San Francisco. While consideration was given at first to areas north of New York City, crowded Manhattan had not been seriously investigated. A last-minute offer of $8.5 million by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. for the purchase of the present site was accepted by a large majority of the General Assembly on 14 December 1946. New York City completed the site parcel by additional gifts of property. The site chosen by the UN was a run-down area of slaughterhouses, light industry and a railroad barge landing. The J.H. Ketcham Hose Co., Inc. in Dover Plains is a volunteer fire company that has proudly served the community since 1903. Alongside the state of the art firetrucks and equipment, Dover Historian and former fire chief Brian Kelly has assembled a spectacular firefighting exhibit, chronicling the fire fighting history of Dover. Tour the historic collection, including a restored 1927 Seagrave Suburbanite fire truck, paintings by J.E. Arthur Powell, G. Glenn Newell and other early 20th Century local artists, and other displays. NOTE: There is a steep stairway and no elevator to tour the second floor. The two-story brick building on Route 22 in Dover Plains, notable for the cannons and original fire gong in front, is named for John Henry Ketcham, who served as General in the Union Army during the American Civil War and was a United States Representative from NY for over 33 years and United States Senator in 1860 and 1861.
