Cased Matched Pair of Miniature, Unmarked, Straight Razors fitted in their small, lined, flat presentation case. Very unique matched pair with natural material handles. The only pair that I have encountered of this small size. They are larger than corn razors and smaller than the known “Traveling”  razor. Perhaps they were made for exhibition to show the skill of the cutler. C-1850.

Cased Matched Pair of GEORGE BUTLER “ART” Straight Razors having elaborately carved, six panel, Mother of Pearl handles and engraved blades with matching label and advertising inside the lined, flat presentation case missing one end. The blades both have an engraved bust of Shakespeare and his quote, “KEEN as is this razors edge invisible.” “Shakespeare: Loves Labor Lost.” All the carved pearl panels are pinned to shaped metal liners.

Cased Matched Pair of Pique Work Handled Straight Razors. C-1840’s. A magnificent pattern of silver pins surrounding inlaid shield shaped escutcheon plates on natural material handles. Elaborate pique work is different on each razor. Maker appears to be “Moshler.”

Cased Matched Pair of fancy Silver Capped Straight Razors stamped simply “C” on the tangs. The handle natural handles are capped in ornate silver colored ends and fitted in a red lined, flat presentation case. Uniquely shaped blades. The only set I have seen in this handle pattern.

The other is etched “TIS NOT FOR MORTALS TO COMMAND SUCCESS; BUT WE’LL DO MORE, SEMPRONIS, WE’LL DESERVE IT” Cato. Awesome pair.

Rare Cased 7-Day Set having one handle and 7 blades, one for every day of the week. C-1830’s. The tangs are stamped “W(crown) R SAVIGNY” (W(crown)R" dating the manufacturing date to between 1830-37 for King William of England. This complete set has wedge blades. The ornately carved natural material handle has an inlaid pattern of “pique work” pins on the front side around the escutcheon plate. Note: Pique work was the art of inlaying tiny silver pins, by hand, into the predrilled holes of the pattern. It was a cottage industry done in homes around the manufacturing city of Sheffield. This artistry was popular from about 1820-1840's. Pique work was performed on horn, pearl, tortoiseshell, ivory and bone. You will not find two identical pieces. Even the pins are set by hand so they are not even in height. These one Handled seven day sets are extremely rare and were produced for a very short period of time, approximately 1820-1840. Further, each locking device is numbered to correspond with the specific shaped tang that fits it. In this case the number is "13” which  is on the tangs. You could not lock these blades into the handle of any other similar set. The lined case is leather covered wood. This is one of the finest, early 7-Day sets I have ever seen.
