Hudson River Maritime Museum Lighthouse Tour for 4 Aboard the Solaris in Kingston, NY

Four tickets aboard Solaris to the Rondout Lighthouse. This is our most popular tour on Solaris. Guests get 60 minute trip and a tour of the lighthouse inside. These tickets have a value of $30 each and include admission to the museum.

Meet Solaris! Solaris is the Hudson River Maritime Museum's 100% solar-powered tour boat and floating classroom. She was built by the museum's restoration crew, under the direction of Jim Kricker, on-site at the museum's Wooden Boat School. Solaris is the only solar-powered boat in operation on the Hudson River. She does not require fossil fuels to operate.

Designed by marine architect Dave Gerr from a concept developed by David Borton, owner of Sustainable Energy, our tour boat is commercial in design, meeting all U.S. Coast Guard regulations for commercial passenger-carrying vessels. In late 2018, the vessel passed her speed/range endurance test under the watchful eye of Coast Guard inspectors, using only reserve battery power. This vessel can travel up to 50 miles at night without the use of her solar panels. Even on cloudy days, the solar panels are so efficient that they continue to power the batteries.?

The Rondout Lighthouse is the last of three lighthouses marking the entrance to the Rondout Creek. Still fully operational as a navigational light, the Rondout lighthouse is one of only seven remaining on the Hudson River.

This brick lighthouse, completed and lit in 1915, is accessible only by boat. Owned by the City of Kingston and operated by the Hudson River Maritime Museum, guided tours of the interior of the lighthouse are available seasonally.

Explore this historic structure from the first floor all the way up to the observation deck around the light itself. All tours are led by our experienced and knowledgeable tour guides and include the boat between the Hudson River Maritime Museum and the lighthouse.

The Hudson River Maritime Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the maritime history of the Hudson River, its tributaries, and related industries. Value $120.
