Historic Kingston Walking Tour for 12 with Refreshments at Louw-Bogardus House Ruins at Frog Alley Park

The Friends of Historic Kingston invite you and your group up to 12 to take a guided walking tour along the 18th Century streets of uptown Kingston, NY. View a treasury of centuries-old architecture as you walk through the heart of the original stockade village of Kingston, whose streets were designed in 1658 by Provincial-Governor Peter Stuyvesant. Visit a large cluster of native limestone houses built by the early settlers and their descendants. Pause by the court house site where the New York State Constitution was drafted, and where Sojourner Truth won the lawsuit for her son's freedom.

Your 90-minute tour concludes with refreshments at one of our ongoing preservation projects, the Louw-Bogardus House ruins at Frog Alley Park. Standing just outside the northeast corner of the 1658 Stockade District, the stone ruins of the Louw-Bogardus house affords a fine example of early limestone vernacular architecture. It is believed that the original section on the right-hand side was built between 1665-1670. The house was heavily damaged by a fire in the 1960s. Value $400.
