Dutchess County Historical Society (DCHS) Fundraising Auction of Unique Experiences and Gift Certificates Ending 11/5

100% of the auction proceeds benefit the DCHS. Every lot sells to the highest bidder. Payment will be made directly to DCHS, a 501-C3 Not for Profit Corporation so no sales tax will be charged. There is a 15% Buyers Premium which will also be going to the DCHS.

Please support the 100+ year old “Mission” of the DCHS that has “collected, preserved and interpreted the history of Dutchess County, NY, from the period of the arrival of the first Native Americans until the present day.”

Join local historian and Dutchess County Historical Society trustee Antonia Mauro for a tour of the historic Reformed Church on Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 at 2:00 PM! Bring your group of up to 10 people and view this late Gothic Revival National Register of Historic Places Poughkeepsie landmark.

While viewing the grand exterior hear how old-world style met the modern world needs of this congregation through the vision of renowned architect James Collens. Collens was also responsible for The Cloisters in Fort Tryon and the Thompson Memorial Library at Vassar College. In 1921 the Reformed Church of Poughkeepsie laid the cornerstone for their new church. In 1923 the construction was complete and the new church was dedicated.

The interior of the Reformed Church is not only remarkable for its construction and design but for its local history and the commitment of its congregation and pastors. See the contributions made by prominent Poughkeepsians one hundred years ago including the Adriance, Atwater, Van Kleeck and Barnes families including a Tiffany window.

Tour begins at 2:00 PM, and will be followed by a Prohibition Mocktail Reception for your enjoyment! Value $400.
