Joan Diamant (American 1924-2015) Contemporary Landscape Oil Painting, Hudson Valley, New York. The painting measures approximately 40” x 28,” framed. The late Joan Diamant studied painting at the Art Students' League under teachers Reginald Marsh and Robert Brackman. She later studied with Victor Candell and, for many years, Jack Levine. In 1966 she began working for Pierre Matisse at his renowned gallery. She later studied bookbinding and in 1972 became a professional bookbinder. In 1986 Joan resumed painting full time and has exhibited regularly in the northeast. Working from her own photographs, Joan captured the Berkshire landscape at its most sublime state. Her careful technique yields a distillation of both form and color while preserving the visual richness of the natural world.
