This exceptional textile displays unusually numerous supplementary weft designs including a butterfly, key, hand, table and 2 chairs, comb, umbrella, Akan stool, elephant, dragon fly, etc. Supplementary weft designs are woven into the cloth. This is not embroidery. Figurative supplementary weft designs are referred to as “scriptures” in Ghana. Cotton textile with rayon weft designs. 67inx46in. Anlo-Ewe people, Agbozume Ghana. Collected in Keta, Ghana. See” African Majesty” by P. Adler and N. Barnard plate 33 and pp.167-168 for similar but less elaborate textile. Exhibited Pen and Brush Gallery, New York 2005.
