5 Questions to get to know Mike!
Where’s your favorite place in the world?
My favorite place in the world is home. As a former sailor in the US Navy, I always thought of home regardless of where I was in the world. No place in the world compares to being home with family and friends.
What’s the last book you read?
“The Ultimate Survival Medicine Guide: Emergency Preparedness For Any Disaster”. I like to educate myself, stimulate deeper thought and prepare for the unknown. This particular book delves into the medicinal requirements for survival in the potential loss of modern medical facilities and/or government. It touches base on a lot of factors from minor injuries to severe and recurring conditions. It was very educational and has helped me build off of my pre-existing basic first aid knowledge.
What is your favorite Movie?
“What Dreams May Come”, starring Robin Williams. This drama delves into beliefs and theories about afterlife, soul mates and the losses people experience in life. The lead, Robin Williams, dies and in his heavenly afterlife learns that his wife passed soon after and went to purgatory. With this knowledge he sets out to save her from her torment. In my opinion, this was one of Robin Williams best performances, he stepped out of his comic role and delivered a very deep and emotional performance.
Who inspires you?
This is the most thought-provoking question I could think to answer because until recently, the past five or so years, I never really gave this much thought. It wasn’t until I watched Mathew McConaughey’s inspirational Oscar speech from 2014 that I developed this mindset. In his speech he said his hero and the person that he chases and aims to be is himself in 10 years. The point is that this is an unattainable vision of the future that provides the limitless potential for personal growth and achievement.
What is your favorite family tradition?
Games at Aunt Sue and Uncle Rob’s. Since I was a kid our family gets together at Sue and Rob Doyle’s house and we play some kind of card/board game.
