American gilt brass and marble girandole with "The Capture of Major Andre," c. 1856-1865, by Starr, Fellows & Co., New York, the tree trunk and branch standard supporting three candle cups with prism rings, hung with crystal prisms, above a finely molded group of New York militiamen capturing the British agent, on a stepped two-tier white marble base with gilt brass molding. The two side candle holders are possibly by the same maker and each is decorated with a man and dog. Center candelabra is 20"Tx16"W. Side candle holders are 14"T.
